Working- Well, it's coming up on two
years...We have put together a nice
little facilities group...and we
have been supporting various industries....a
lot of our work lately has
been for the Chemical industry...some very
similar challenges, just at
a different scale...I'm not really seeing the
opportunities to grow the
business like I think we could...but you might not
get that chance at a
large firm anyway...I'm thinking of going with an "Up
or Out" approach
for the next 6 months or so...
Projects:
Architecture- Recently finnished up
detailed design phase for the lab
renovation project originally built
in 1916...real "Thomas Edison" era
stuff...wooden fume hoods...original
lab gas piping...amazing...it was state
of the art...90 years
ago...
Project Management- I have recently spent some time dabbling in a
couple of hydrocarbon projects as a Project Engineer...once you get
past
the industry differences, engineering is pretty much the
same...define the
scope, communicate the scope, get it built...some
things never change...

I find
having a place to post information actually helps generate additional
thoughts and ideas...thoughts and ideas...

Networking- I have recently run across the
LinkedIn site for managing
and
generating a work-related network...you don't have anything in this
industry but your reputation...that and your list of contacts...
check
